Photobiomodulation is directly pro-metabolic as it induces an increase in ATP (Adenosine triphosphate)production from the mitochondria which is better understood as an increase in energy. Red light therapy supplements environmental light with concentrated doses of red light, which is the specific spectrum the mitochondria use to produce ATP (energy). CAN I COMBINE RED LIGHT WITH UV TANNING?
Yes. In fact, combining red light with UV Tanning is recommended. Red light therapy increases the absorption and efficacy of cosmetic products. This means when you apply your tanning lotion to tan after a red light session the tanning lotion will work even better! Another reason we UV tan after red light is because we want our skin to be free of any debris or products not specifically made for red light, otherwise your skin won’t be able to absorb the light rays.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU USE RED LIGHT FOR SKIN OUT BREAKS?
For skin conditions like cold sores, canker sores, and genital sores, it’s best to use light therapy treatments when you first feel a tingle and suspect that an outbreak is emerging. Then, use light therapy every day while you’re experiencing symptoms. DOES RED LIGHT TREAT ACNE AND SUN SPOTS? Yes! Red light therapy (RLT) is a treatment that uses low wavelength red light to reportedly improve your skin’s appearance, such as reducing wrinkles, scars, redness and acne.
DO I NEED EYE PROTECTION?
Yes. However red light therapy will not harm your eyes. Eye protection is for comfort and sunglasses can be used.

HOW SOON DO I SEE RESULTS?
You will see an energetic flush to the skin each use. To see a texture change in the skin use 2 – 3 times weekly for one month. For changes in hair, nails, fine lines, wrinkles and fading of dark spots use 2 – 3 times weekly for 3 months. Following 3 months you can reduce to maintenance sessions 1 – 2 times weekly. Remember we are stimulating the cells to regenerate and work more efficiently. The results are cumulative and therefore seen from repetitive use. Red light increases circulation so even if you don’t build cumulative, visual results you will still feel healthier.
